Valerie Gilman teaches pottery and sculpture from her studio in Shutesbury, and through the Cancer Connection in Northampton. With an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Gilman taught full-time for over a decade at colleges in Pennsylvania and California. She has shown extensively; her most recent public sculpture was displayed last fall at the big maple on the Amherst Common.
Trained in Psychosynthesis, the formal elements of art are, for Gilman, a way into the mysterious depths of the creative, transformative unconscious. Both the familiar and the uncomfortable is tenderly revealed in an exploration that blossoms through the hands. Would you like to hear Valerie talking about her teaching, coaching, and creative and healing process?
